These 6 new bills would benefit New York veterans; Here’s how

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- One of the Staten Island’s state legislators is playing a crucial role in improving the lives of New York’s hundreds of thousands of military veterans.

State Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton (D-North Shore/South Brooklyn), who serves as the chair of the state Senate Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee, announced that the committee passed six bills, three of which were introduced by the senator, during the committee’s March meeting.

“Our military service members, veterans and their families have dedicated their lives to serving our country and they deserve to live in a state that not only honors those sacrifices, but also supports the needs of our veteran and active duty community,” said Scarcella-Spanton.
