Catharine "Cathy" Young (R,I,C, Olean) was sworn into office today as the Senator representing the 57th Senate District.
In a ceremony before today’s Senate session, Senator Young took the oath of office administered by Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno. She was congratulated by Lieutenant Governor Mary Donohue, who serves as President of the Senate.
"I’m thrilled that the constituents of the 57th Senate District chose me to represent them in the State Senate," said Senator Cathy Young. "I’ve already begun working on the issues facing the residents of the Southern Tier. Capping Medicaid was only a first step towards protecting property taxpayers from these burgeoning costs. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be focusing on the issues that I talked about during my campaign, such as cutting taxes, creating a positive atmosphere for job growth, and ensuring quality health care for our rural areas." Senator Young concluded.
