November 2, 2005
State Senator Catharine "Cathy" Young (R,I,C - Olean) today joined with the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) in announcing local assistance grants. NYSCA's annual appropriation for grants and operations are received from the Governor and the Legislature each fiscal year. In addition to state funds, NYSCA also receives annual support from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), a federal agency.
"Providing funding for the arts is essential to preserve and expand the rich and diverse cultural resources and heritage of New York’s citizens," said Senator Young. "The grants given out touch every age group throughout the Senate District. I congratulate and commend each and every organization for what they do to enrich lives here in Chautauqua County."
NYSCA accepts grant proposals each year from nonprofit organizations incorporated in New York State. NYSCA is organized into discipline programs, each of which receives funding requests in a specific arts discipline or field.
