Klein Celebrates Easter Spirit With Bunny Breakfast For Westchester Children

–State Senator Jeff Klein joined with the Visiting Nurse Services of New York and Eastchester CAP to celebrate the Easter spirit today, debuting his annual Bunny Breakfast event in Westchester. Hundreds of young children and their parents from all over Westchester gathered at the William E. Cottle Elementary School, where they met the Easter Bunny and enjoyed a day of delicious treats and entertainment.

“I’m thrilled to extend the Bunny Breakfast to Westchester,” said Klein. “It’s great to provide a day of wholesome entertainment for young children.” Klein has been hosting the event for eleven years in the Bronx. “In our intense media culture, sometimes we need to remind kids that it is okay to just be a kid. This is a fun day for kids to enjoy a magician and get an Easter basket,” said Klein.

The event kicked off with a continental breakfast, with children and their parents filling up on bagels, pastries, croissants, and apple turnovers. Yelps of excitement rippled through the cafeteria when the Easter Bunny frolicked in, as children ran to embrace the friendly character. The Easter Bunny was joined by a special sidekick, the Heffalump, the joyful elephant from the new Disney film. Parents rushed to snap photos of their children with both characters.

From there, children were cajoled into the school’s auditorium, where they happily giggled at the magic show put on by Clown Magic Entertainment. Mandu the Magician amazed the youngsters with a variety of spectacular tricks. Departing the show, young children received Easter Baskets brimming with chocolate and snacks donated by the New York State Association of Wholesalers, Marketers, and Distributors. Breakfast food and beverages were provided by the Visiting Nurse Services of New York.

“I’d like to thank all our donors, our volunteers, my staff, and of course, Westchester’s children and their parents for making our first Bunny Breakfast here such a positive and memorable experience,” said Klein.

“I look forward to making this event a cherished tradition here, as it is in the Bronx.”
