Senator Malcolm A. Smith Announces Enrollment Period For Merrick Academy Has Begun

State Senator Malcolm A. Smith (D-Queens) announced today that the enrollment period for Merrick Academy’s 2006/2007 school year has begun. The school’s application deadline for grades K-6 is January 9, 2006, with a public lottery being held on January 18, 2006.

"Merrick Academy is a great option for parents looking for an alternative education for their children. The Academy offers a private school setting within a public school, combining the best qualities of both styles of education," said Senator Smith.

"Year after year my colleagues and I in the State Senate continue to fight for improvements in New York’s education system. I know how vital it is for all of our children to receive a solid basic education, which is why I encourage my constituents to go to the information session on January 3rd to hear what Merrick Academy has to offer their children," said Senator Smith.

Parents interested in learning morning about Merrick Academy may attend an information session being held on January 3, 2006 at 207-01 Jamaica Avenue, Queens Village.
