State Senator Malcolm S. Smith (D-Queens) today announced Todd Smith’s "JUMP & BALL" basketball and double-dutch tournament will take place through the month of August into Labor Day weekend. Specifically, the basketball tournament will consist of 2 divisions with 80 kids per division, playing in a "Win or Go Home" game. The double-dutch competition, which is primarily female, will consist of 8 teams, showcasing their creativity, skill and talent. Both tournaments will be held at the Daniel M. O’Connell Park) OCP, located at 196th Street and Murdock Avenue in St. Albans.
"I am so pleased to see that LL Cool J is still giving back to his community and this is just the beginning. Sports such as double-dutch, which rarely have a venue to be performed and competed in, have now found a home. I know that this tournament will serve as an exciting summer sporting event to the children and families of St. Albans, and I would like to commend LL Cool J for his dedication to the Queens community" said Senator Smith.
In addition to the basketball and double-dutch competitions, there will be surprise showcases. Every week a different activity or demonstration will be featured, such as: karate, arts & crafts, self defense and dance.
