State Senator Malcolm Smith Announces Recruiting Event For JFK International Airport

State Senator Malcolm A. Smith announced today that JFK International Airport is holding a recruiting event this Friday, July 29, 2005. The event is being held to recruit Security Guards for the airport.

"In the past few years, security has increasingly become a concern of many citizens, especially while traveling. Providing well trained security professionals to our State’s airports is a necessity, which is why I am so pleased that JFK is holding this recruiting event," said Senator Smith.

To be considered for any of the open positions, all applicants must be of at least 18 years of age, and be able to read, write and speak English. On the day of the interview, all applicants must bring one of the following: High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma, Social Security Card, NYS Security License, or 8 hour Security Certificate, Non-Driver NYS I.D., US Birth Certificate, Work Authorization, Passport, Green Card or Naturalization papers.

Qualified applicants must be flexible to work varying shifts. Other requirements include: proof of address (using a cable, electric or telephone bill). If the applicant does not have any bills with their name listed on them, they must obtain a notarized statement from someone who resides with them, including dates listing the duration of their residency. Also, a list of ten years of work experience and/or school history (1995-present), and list of residencies for the past five years.

The event will take place at the Council for Airport Opportunity, Inc., located at 90-04 161St ST, Room 101, Jamaica, NY 11432. Interested applicants may apply in person between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm.
