Larkin Secures Grants For Youth Sports

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) today announced he has secured funding for several area youth sports clubs.

"Sports are such a great outlet for kids," said Senator Larkin. "In addition to keeping kids off the streets, busy with fun and healthy activities, and physically fit, so many of life’s lessons can be learned through playing sports. I am pleased that I was able to advocate successfully for our youth sports programs. These grants will help many area athletes enjoy many hours of fun on the fields and on the courts."

Senator Larkin announced the following grants:

The Town of Newburgh Little League will receive $75,000 toward the cost of purchasing and installing field lights at the Lakeside Road complex.

The Newburgh Nuclears American Legion Baseball Club will receive $10,000 for the costs associated with hosting the New York State Championship Tournament.

The Newburgh Zion Lions Basketball Organization will receive $5,000 for new uniforms, equipment, and referee fees.

New Windsor Youth Football will receive $5,000 for new uniforms and equipment.

The Wallkill Central School District will receive $30,000 for a soccer storage shed at its new soccer field.

The Hudson River Valley Empire State Games Organization will receive $25,000 toward transportation costs for both Orange and Ulster Counties.
