Senator Larkin Announces Local Heritage Grants

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) today announced that several local organizations have been awarded a total of $260,236 in grants from the New York State Archives.

The grants fall into two categories: Documentary Heritage Program grants awarded to community organizations, and Local Government Records grants awarded to local governments. All of the awarded grants involve records. They can be paper ledgers that are hundreds of years old, or sophisticated computer records.

"While we don’t normally hear very much about this type of state funding, it is an extremely important source of revenue for our localities and community organizations," Senator Larkin said. "Many of these grants contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of how a local government conducts its business to serve the public. Others ensure that the rich and diverse history of New York State is preserved, while still others provide a hands-on history experience for local school children."
