Senator Bill Larkin encourages residents to stop by the upcoming Volunteer Fair being hosted by Orange County Community College and the Institute for Nonprofit Leadership and Management.
The Volunteer Fair will be held Tuesday, October 11, 2005, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM in the College Commons, 115 South Street in Middletown.
Come visit the booths and meet representatives from over 35 local nonprofit service organizations in need of volunteers.
For more information, call (845) 341-4874; or email coordinator Sandra Roding at sroding@sunyorange.edu.
"The strength of our communities is found in the hearts and souls of those who give to others," said Senator Larkin. "People who volunteer their time and energy to care for the most vulnerable among us inspire all of us with their dedication and commitment. There are countless examples of volunteers in the Hudson Valley who have mentored children, provided shelter for the homeless, responded to disasters, cared for the sick and elderly, fed the hungry, and performed other acts of kindness and community service. These selfless deeds contribute to a culture of compassion and teach younger generations the importance of giving back to their communities. If you’ve been considering volunteer work, there is no better time to get involved. Stop by the Fair and see if there is something that touches your heart."
