The Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at St. Bonaventure University will become a major cultural resource for all school children in the Southern Tier, thanks to a grant announced today by State Senator Catharine "Cathy" Young (R,I,C - Olean).
The funding will be used for contract services, equipment and supplies needed for the ArtMobile, a mobile arts education unit (a reconfigured passenger bus) that will provide more flexible access to more
rural students as part of the Center’s Arts Education Initiative.
"This funding will help reap educational rewards in a number of ways," Senator Young said. "Given the rural geography of the Southern Tier, having a ‘traveling museum’ allows students expedient access to the creative arts without the inconveniences of long-distance travel."
"The Quick Center for the Arts at St. Bonaventure University is grateful to Senator Catharine M. Young for her generosity," said Michael Kramer, Development Officer for the Regina A. Quick Center. "Her
understanding of the impact this educational involvement program will have on the area demonstrates her commitment to providing quality arts education. We are also thankful to the senator for the opportunity to share the resources of the University through this important initiative."
The ArtMobile project was also made possible with the help of a $12,000 received from the New York State Council of the Arts.
