State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, recently attended a celebration at Captain Bill’s in Bay Shore commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the Bay Shore Lions Club where he presented the Club with a proclamation paying tribute to the organization and congratulating them on reaching this tremendous milestone.
The Bay Shore Lions Club is Suffolk County’s very first Lions Club. Their mission is to create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian need by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation. The club supports many charities and organizations, including: the Lions Club International Foundation; the Lions Eye Bank for Long Island; the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind; the Canine Companions for Independence; Bay Shore High School; the Great South Bay YMCA; the Bay Shore/Brightwaters Beautification Society; the Elyod Moreland Scholarship Fund; the Boulton Center and St. Patrick’s School.
