State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, recently visited PRONTO of Long Island where he was thanked for the $50,000 state grant he secured to support their programs. PRONTO is a Long Island-based nonprofit that provides outreach services to the poor, the unemployed, the immigrant, the uninsured, and anyone in need in Brentwood, Bay Shore, Central Islip and the surrounding communities. PRONTO's many community programs include a Food Pantry, an Information and Referral Program, English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, Shots for Tots and The Thrift Shop. Senator Johnson is pictured with Maria Cancel -- one of Pronto's many active volunteers -- admiring the quality of a jacket that was donated to the Thrift Shop. The shop enables community members and their families to obtain donated, gently used clothing, furniture and household items.

"PRONTO of Long Island is an incredible asset to our community and I am so pleased to support their efforts," said Senator Johnson.
