Senator Johnson Honors Mary Holmes Reid Of Bay Shore As A Woman Of Distinction

State Capitol, Albany, New York, June 27, 2006 -- State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, honored Mary Holmes Reid of Bay Shore as a New York State Woman of Distinction at a special ceremony held on June 20th in Albany. Ms. Reid currently serves as statewide vice president of the NYS Public Employees Federation (PEF) Retirees and is a member of the Steering Committee of the Long Island Association of Retired Americans.
As an active member in the community, Ms. Reid has played a major role in labor relations, dedicating her life to advocating for the pension, health care and economic security rights of union retirees. In her spare time, Ms. Reid also volunteers serving as a member on the board of several organizations. She is the commissioner of the Town of Islip Housing Authority and is the president of Brentwood Library Board of Trustees.
Other Women of Distinction that were also honored by Senator Johnson include Joyce Peisker Ratushny of Deer Park and Audrey Jacullo of North Babylon.
