State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, recently presented a check for more than $500,000 to the Village of Babylon to contain and filter storm water and reduce sediment entering the Stowe Avenue Creek/Drainage System, dredge decades of mud and decayed organic sediments from Boyd’s Pond and restore its aquatic life and vegetation. Senator Johnson said that the funds were part of more than $9.1 million in funding Governor Pataki announced to improve Long Island water quality and habitats. The funding came through the Clean Water/Clean Air Bond Act and the Environmental Protection Fund (EPF).
