State Capitol, Albany, New York, June 22, 2006 -- State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, recently paid a visit to the Forest Avenue Elementary School in West Babylon, to congratulate Kaitlin Reyes as a third place winner and to commend Christina Capobianco for her participation in the Senate’s 15 Annual I*MA*GREEN*NATION competition.
Both first grade students in Ms. Beirne’s class, Kaitlin and Christina received special certificates presented by Senator Johnson for their hard work and creativity displayed by the projects each submitted. Kaitlin was a third place winner in the Division I Science & Technology category for her project on recycling paper into art.
"I want to congratulate all the students that participated in the I*MA*GREEN*NATION competition," said Senator Johnson. "It is a great learning experience that gets students involved and interested in the environment, as well as an opportunity that makes young people aware of the surrounding issues within our own communities."
