Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) announced that the New York State budget passed today by the full Legislature contains $30 million dollars for the construction of a new Orange County Community College campus in the City of Newburgh.
The $30 million appropriation from the state will be matched by Orange County for a total of $60 million.
"This is a victory for the residents of Orange County, and particularly the City of Newburgh," said Senator Larkin. "For months, we have been working to secure this funding in the state budget. With this accomplishment, we can proceed to the next step which is finding a location for the new campus. Now it is up to the County Legislature to select the site. I am hopeful that this decision can be made expeditiously so that we can move forward with this most worthwhile project. It will have a major impact on our local economy, lead to jobs and careers for young people and provide countless opportunities for those returning to school."
