Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) today announced that the Senate, Assembly and Governor George E. Pataki have reached an agreement on available revenues for the 2005-06 and 2006-07 state fiscal years. The agreement was reached prior to the statutory deadline, consistent with the accelerated timetable that the Governor and Legislative leaders established to ensure passage of an on-time Budget.

"While minor differences still exist between the two Houses and the Governor, agreement on this major piece means that we are right on track for an on-time state budget," said Senator Larkin. "My colleagues and I in the Senate can now take this positive news into the final budget deliberations where we can push for our priorities of reducing property taxes, creating jobs, giving breaks to small businesses, and making important investments in education and health care."

The parties agree that $750 million more than was projected in the amended Executive Budget is available.
