Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) has introduced a bill in the New York State Senate to authorize the approval of certain transportation contracts for the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District.
The legislation would allow the Monroe-Woodbury Central School District to be eligible to receive transportation aid for five of its contracts from the 2004-2005 school year that the district inadvertently omitted in its filing to the State Education Department.
"Because of the filing error, the school district stood to lose this significant amount of funding," said Senator Larkin. "Also, because of the technical nature of the education aid formula, it was necessary to create legislation to correct the oversight. I will be following up with the appropriate authorities at the Division of the Budget and the State Education Department to see that the school district can recover this important funding."
The Monroe-Woodbury Central School District would receive $185,000 in transportation aid from the State Education Department once the contracts are approved.
