Larkin Secures Grants For Disabilities Service Groups

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) has obtained state funding for several Ulster County organizations serving the disabled.

"I am pleased to have been able to help meet some of the needs of these important community organizations," said Senator Larkin. These grants will assist some of our most vulnerable citizens. The dedicated employees and the people they serve are most deserving."

Gateway Community Industries, Inc. in Kingston has received $10,000 toward the upgrading of its information system. Gateway has been serving individuals with mental, developmental and other disabilities for nearly fifty years in Ulster County.

The Resource Center For Accessible Living (RCAL) in Kingston has received $3,500 to update its computer equipment. RCAL has a strong voice on national, state and local issues. The organization works with the disabled community to assure access to items such as housing, employment, transportation, health and social services to name a few.

United Cerebral Palsy of Ulster County, Inc., also located in Kingston, has received $25,000 for computer upgrades. Originally founded to serve the needs of 25 children with cerebral palsy over fifty years ago, UCP of Ulster County now serves hundreds of individuals with a wide variety of disabilities every year.
