March 27, 2006
Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) today announced that the 2006-07 state budget agreed upon by the Legislature includes significant increases in state aid for cities, towns, and villages in Orange and Ulster Counties to help ease the pressure of local property taxes.
"From day one of this legislative session, my colleagues and I in the Senate vowed that we would not accept a budget that did not provide property tax relief to the people of this state," said Senator Larkin. "This has been our top priority and we will accomplish this goal by increasing state assistance to local governments. These increases will help ease the tremendous burden on hardworking New Yorkers. The Legislature has agreed to these figures and now it is up to the Governor to give his final approval."
The breakdown in the increase in aid for localities in Senator Larkin’s 39th Senate District is as follows, including each locality's total aid, followed by the increase in aid from 2005-06.
