State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, recently presented a New York State Legislative Resolution to the Babylon Rotary Club on the occasion of their 60th anniversary.

"So many in our community have been helped as a result of the work of the Babylon Rotary whose members continue to exemplify Rotary International’s motto "Service Above Self," said Senator Johnson. "I am pleased to recognize the Babylon Rotary as they reach this significant milestone."

The Babylon Rotary Club exercises its community leadership in the many service projects it undertakes. Past projects include erecting lampposts along the railroad Argyle Park; providing restrooms for the Babylon Little League fields on Locust Avenue; organizing an Earth Day Tree Program which provides seedlings to elementary school children; implementing a Legacy for Literacy program which partners with Scholastic Books to bring hundreds of books to elementary schools; supporting scholarships to high school students who will be attending college; donating medical equipment to Good Samaritan Hospital and working on a Habitat for Humanity house in the Town of Babylon.

The Babylon Rotary is affiliated with Rotary International -- a not-for -profit organization of business and professional leaders worldwide who provide humanitarian service, encourage higher ethical standards in all vocations and help build goodwill through service in the community, in the workplace and throughout the world.
