Attention Area Dairy Farmers

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) today announced that distribution of $30 million in aid to the state’s dairy producers has begun under the New York State Dairy Assistance Program.

Over 6,000 dairy farms are eligible for this program throughout New York State.

Area dairy farmers should note the following dates:

April 13, 2007 Applications Available

April 27, 2007 Deadline for Applications

May 9, 2007 Expected Issuance of Payments

Most importantly, dairy producers must complete, sign and put their application in the mail by the April 27th deadline.

Producers who have not received an application by mail need to get an application as quickly as possible by:

* Printing one from the Department of Agriculture’s website at www.agmkt.state.ny.us;

* Calling the Department toll free at 1-800 554-4501; or

* Contacting the local Cornell Cooperative Extension at (845) 344-1234.
