The State Senate has passed a Legislative Resolution introduced by Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) memorializing Governor Spitzer to proclaim May 2007 as Military Appreciation Month in New York State in conjunction with National Military Appreciation Month. The resolution would make the month of May 2007 the official month New York State observes and honors the country’s servicemen and women.
"Recognizing the individuals who have served and are currently serving their country is extremely important to us as patriotic and grateful Americans," said Senator Larkin. "It gives us an important opportunity for greater understanding and appreciation of the many sacrifices these brave individuals have made for the greater good of all of us."
National Military Appreciation Month includes VE Day, Military Spouse Day, Loyalty Day, Armed Forces Day, Armed Forces Week, National Day of Prayer, and Memorial Day. It therefore honors those Americans who have given their lives in the
defense of our nation's freedom and the men and women now serving in uniform. It also recognizes those on active duty in all branches of the service, the National Guard and Reserves, military retirees, veterans and all their families.
