Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) today announced he has successfully negotiated several state grants for several organizations that provide health and safety services to local residents.
"The summer months can be particularly dangerous because of storms, increased auto accidents, people needing emergency surgery as a result and blood shortages are a serious issue this time of year," said Senator Larkin. "I am pleased to have been able to secure these important grants. This funding will greatly assist our local Red Cross chapters and the Community Blood Services Foundation of Orange County so that they can continue their work to maintain local blood supplies and provide other emergency help in our communities during times of crisis."
Larkin has secured a grant in the amount of $5,000 for the Orange County chapter of the American Red Cross in Greater New York. The funding will be used for disaster response volunteer training.
The Ulster County chapter of the American Red Cross has received $25,000 that will be put toward the purchase of four emergency response trailers.
In addition, Senator Larkin obtained a $35,000 grant for the Community Blood Services Foundation of Orange County which will use this funding to purchase a bloodmobile vehicle for blood collections throughout Orange County.
