Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) has secured two state grants for the Town of Highlands Ambulance Corp., Inc and the Highlands Police Department.

The Highlands Ambulance Corps, Inc. has received $25,000 for the purchase of a 4-wheel drive first response vehicle.

The Town of Highlands Police Department has received $10,000 toward the purchase of two all terrain vehicles equipped with emergency lighting and a trailer for law enforcement officers patrolling the CSX rail line and along the Hudson River within the town as well as throughout area woodlands.

"It was important to secure this grant for the Town of Highlands Ambulance Corps," said Senator Larkin. "Every year, calls for ambulances increase and this first response vehicle will assist in bringing emergency services to residents as well as help the Town be as prepared as possible should there ever be an incident with mass casualties. In the case of the Town of Highlands Police Department, these ATV’s will be important pieces of equipment for the Department to own since the officers are often the first responders to accidents involving injured hikers or hunters. They will also aid in the effective patrol of the woodlands around the United State Military Academy at West Point."
