Senator Larkin Brings $30,000 In State Grants To City Of Newburgh

In his efforts to obtain state funding for special projects in the City of Newburgh, Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) has successfully secured $30,000 in grants for the City to help promote local heritage projects.

Larkin was able to secure a $20,000 grant for the City to purchase a trolley so that it can continue to offer free guided tours of many of Newburgh’s historic sites for residents and visitors to enjoy. Currently, the City is renting a trolley for this purpose.

The City has also received $10,000 to create historical markers that will make Newburgh’s historic sites more distinguishable to both tourists and local residents. This signage project will compliment the City’s trolley tours, support local tourism efforts and help promote the unique history and heritage of Newburgh.

"I commend Newburgh City officials who are working hard to preserve the rich history of the City of Newburgh," said Senator Larkin. "This funding will help sustain the unique historical and cultural importance of our area of the state. I believe that the measures we take today will benefit both current and future generations, and I am certain that many economic and educational opportunities will result from this effort as well."

Newburgh City Manager, Jean-Ann McGrane said, "This funding provides the City with the ability to educate residents and visitors about the many treasures of Newburgh’s unique history."
