Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) today announced two state grants for both the Town and Village of Cornwall.
The Town of Cornwall Police Department has been awarded a $30,000 grant for the purchase of a secure photo identification system, new laptop computers for patrol vehicles and an automated external defibrillator.
Senator Larkin said, "This funding is important for the personal safety of our local police officers and the local community. It also gives law enforcement access to the best technology we have so they can continue to carry out their difficult work efficiently and with the best resources possible."
Senator Larkin was also able to secure a $60,000 grant for the Village to construct a permanent low profile pier head adjacent to a small boat launch ramp with the provision for attachment of removable wave attenuators. The attenuators dissipate incoming waves and create a small, safe harbor where small boats, canoes and kayaks can be safely launched and recovered.
"This project will create another means of safe access to the Hudson River for local residents and visitors," said Senator Larkin. In addition, it will help protect the shoreline, prevent silt build-up and still be in keeping with strict environmental standards."
