Suny Orange To Host Nonprofit Annual Conference March 22, 2007

Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) today announced an important conference sponsored by SUNY Orange on the future of nonprofit organizations in the Hudson Valley.

The annual conference, hosted by SUNY Orange’s Institute for Nonprofit Leadership and Management, will take place on the campus on Thursday, March 22, 2007 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Harriman Hall - Room 111.

Institute organizers are helping the area’s nonprofits sharpen their focus on the future. Leaders and volunteers from nonprofits throughout Orange County can take advantage of the many seminars and workshops being offered by experts in the field of nonprofit management.

"I would strongly encourage all nonprofit organizations throughout the Hudson Valley to attend this important conference," said Senator Larkin. "The meaningful work you do can only be strengthened by the knowledge offered by these experts in the field. I wish all the attendees great success."

Anne Dalton, Chief Operating Officer of the Association of Junior Leagues International, and Diana Gurieva, Executive Vice President of The Dyson Foundation, will be the keynote speakers.

Workshops will feature the following topics and speakers: "E-Philanthropy: Creating Your Organization’s Presence on the Web," Libby Post, President, Communication Services; "Methods of Mass Recruiting Volunteers: Optimizing Your Efforts," Jane Daniels, Director, Zebra Advisors, LLC; "Organizational Conflict: Obstacle or Opportunity," Roz Magidson, Executive Director, Dispute Resolution Center, and Brett Peter Linn, Esq., Orange County Supreme Court; "Relationship Between Professional Staff and the Board: Partnership or Paranoia?" Jacqueline Venable, Vice President, Brakeley Briscoe Inc.; "Social Entrepreneurship: Ventures for Profitable and Sustainable Income," Jeffrey Trexler, Wilson Professor of Social Entrepreneurship, Pace University; and "Organizational Culture: The Path to Better Organizations," Carolyn Curran, development consultant, Capacity Building for Change.
