Senate Democratic Leader Malcolm A. Smith Travels To Washington D.C. To Discuss Economic Stimulus Package For New York

(New York, NY)- On Wednesday, November 19th, Senate Democratic Leader Malcolm A. Smith will travel to Washington D.C. to meet with members of Congress to discuss the new economic stimulus package. Accompanying Smith will be State Senator Jose Serrano, Federal Liaison to the Senate Democratic Conference. Smith and Serrano also plan to join Governor Paterson and Assembly Speaker Silver for select meetings throughout the day.

Smith and Serrano are scheduled to meet with Congresswoman Nita Lowey (NY-18) and Congressman Jose E. Serrano (NY-16), members of the House Committee on Appropriations; and will also be meeting with Congressman Charles Rangel, Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee.

Following those meetings, Smith and Serrano will be joining Governor Paterson and Speaker Silver at meetings with Senator Charles E. Schumer, Congressman Steny Hoyer (MD-5), House Majority Leader, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

"I strongly support Congressional efforts to develop and pass a new stimulus package to revive our nation's economy and am looking forward to working with President-elect Obama and the new Congress to get New York working again," said Senate Democratic Leader Malcolm A. Smith.
