State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, is pictured greeting the student musicians from throughout Suffolk County who are members of the elite All-County Instrumental and Vocal Jazz Ensembles. The students traveled to Albany to perform in conjunction with Music in Our Schools Month which is held annually during the month of March. Throughout the month, talented student performers from all across the state travel to Albany to perform for legislators and discuss pertinent issues relating to music education.
This year, several schools within Senator Johnson’s Senate District had musicians represented in the Ensembles, including: Brentwood, East Islip, Half Hollow Hills, Islip, Lindenhurst, Sayville, West Babylon and West Islip.
The All-County Vocal Jazz Ensemble and the All-County Jazz Ensemble performances are sponsored by the Suffolk County School Music Educators Association.
