State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), recently presented a New York State Senate Proclamation to Ronald R. Radford of North Babylon at a Special Celebration held at the Amityville Club in recognition of his contribution to safe boating on Long Island and his many years of dedicated service to the Captree Power Squadron where he is Outgoing Commander.

Radford joined the Captree Power Squadron in 1994 and moved up the ranks serving as Treasurer, Administrative Officer, Executive Officer and, ultimately, Commander.  He studied and passed Basic Boating, Seamanship, Piloting, Advanced Piloting and other courses, earning him a total of 11 merit marks.

The Captree Power Squadron, Inc. is a unit of the United States Power Squadron (USPS) which is the world’s largest organization that teaches safe boating.  Today, USPS has over 60,000 members organized into 450 squadrons.  The group’s primary objective is to promote safe boating through education.
