Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) has secured funding in the form of two state grants to assist the Esopus and Modena Fire Departments.
The Esopus Fire District has been awarded $25,000 to purchase a four-wheel drive vehicle for first responders to access wooded trails and river areas for rescue.
The Modena Fire District has received $7,500 to purchase a thermal imaging camera that can detect extreme heat through solid objects.
"It was my privilege to help provide our firefighters with some of the best technology and equipment available as they handle emergencies of every type, every day of the week," said Senator Larkin. "These grants will increase the efficiency and safety of our local firefighters as they do their dangerous jobs, and they will ultimately help to better protect the residents of our local communities."
