November 3, 2009
Westchester County—Senator Carl Kruger (D-Brooklyn), Chair of the Finance Committee, and Senators Suzi Oppenheimer (D-37th District) and Andrea Stewart-Cousins (D-35th District) will commence the Senate’s final regional budget oversight hearing Thursday to review the fiscal consequences of the Governor’s deficit closing proposals on local healthcare and educational services, as well as other program supported by the state.
The Senate’s hearings mark the first time the budget process has been taken out of Albany and brought into communities across the state; hearings have been previously held in New York City, Suffolk County and Buffalo to complement those held by the Assembly in Albany and Syracuse.
