Niagara Falls, NY - New York State Senator Antoine M. Thompson (D-Parts of Erie & Niagara Counties), today announced that he has secured $300,000 in state funding for the new, 17-station renal dialysis facility at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. The announcement was made during a morning news conference at the medical center.
“I am pleased that I was able to assist the Memorial Medical Center in securing specialized clinical equipment for its new dialysis unit,” stated Senator Thompson. “The quality of life of Niagara Falls residents and residents from the surrounding areas will be greatly improved by having a close and convenient dialysis facility.”
“Niagara Falls residents h ave a much higher incidence of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and renal disease than the rest of Niagara County and Western New York,” Memorial President & CEO Joseph A. Ruffolo said.
“This new, 17-station renal dialysis facility will fill a critical community need and immeasurably improve the quality of life for hundreds of local patients who depend on this life sustaining treatment.”
The new center is on the medical center’s ground floor and is easily accessible through the covered Pine Avenue entryway that for many years served as the entrance to the Memorial Center’s old emergency room.
