Sen. Foley, Supervisor Nolan Announce Winning Design for Brentwood Spray Park, as Chosen by Local Students

State Senator Brian X. Foley (D – Blue Point) and Islip Town Supervisor Phil Nolan announced the winning design for a spray park to be built in Brentwood, as chosen by students in the Brentwood School District.

Following the allocation of a $500,000 state grant secured by Foley, students from throughout the Brentwood School District chose from four themes for the spray park, choosing the “Egyptian” design as their winning theme.

“I want to thank the students of Brentwood for their input and I think they made a great choice,” said Supervisor Nolan. “This spray park is going to a great asset to the Brentwood community and a safe place for children to play next summer.”

The theme choices and vote totals were: “Egyptian” – 952, “Castle” – 374, “Under the Sea” – 245, and “Dinosaur” – 113.  A rendering of the winning “Egyptian” design is attached.

“I am so pleased to see that students from Brentwood played an active role in selecting the theme for the spray park,” said Foley. “The spray park will provide children and families in Brentwood and the surrounding areas with fun and safe recreational activities.  It will be a facility our entire community can be proud of.”

The Town of Islip will now move forward with construction of the spray park which is anticipated to open in the summer of 2010.
