Senator Fuschillo Announces Local Public Hearing on Proposed Aqua-New York Water Rate Increase

In response to a letter he sent to the New York State Public Service Commission requesting a local public hearing on the proposed Aqua-New York Water Rate Increase, State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) has been informed by the PSC that a local public hearing will be held on the issue.
Senator Fuschillo requested the local public hearing to give affected residents the chance to publicly voice their concerns. The PSC will be releasing information about the date, time, and location of the hearing at a future date.
“Local residents will be directly affected by Aqua-New York Water’s rate increase proposal, and they deserve the opportunity to share their thoughts publicly. I am pleased that the PSC will be holding this local public hearing to get the community’s input,” said Senator Fuschillo.
Aqua-New York Water has submitted a request to the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) seeking approval to raise their rates. Documents submitted to the PSC by Aqua-New York Water estimate that the increase would raise residents’ average monthly bills by 12%. The PSC must give its approval before the rate increase can take effect.
Senator Fuschillo has already called on the PSC to reject Aqua-New York Water’s proposed rate increase that would raise residents’ average monthly water bills by 12%.
