SENATOR FUSCHILLO: PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED AQUA-NEW YORK WATER RATE INCREASE TO BE HELD SEPTEMBER 1st

State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8^th Senate District) has been informed by the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) that two local public hearings on Aqua-New York Water’s proposed rate increase will be held on September 1. Senator Fuschillo requested the local public hearings to give affected residents the chance to publicly voice their concerns.

Aqua-New York Water has submitted a request to the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) seeking approval to raise their rates. Documents submitted to the PSC by Aqua-New York Water estimate that the increase would raise residents’ average monthly bills by 12%. The PSC must give its approval before the rate increase can take effect.

According to the PSC, the public hearings will be held on:

Residents who cannot attend the September 1 public hearings can still make their voices heard about Aqua-New York Water’s rate increase proposal by:

Residents should reference the case number when contacting the PSC (case #09-W-0237).

“Residents should take advantage of the chance to tell the PSC how Aqua-New York Water’s rate increase proposal will affect them. I urge anyone who is concerned about paying higher water bills to make their voices heard to the PSC,” said Senator Fuschillo.

Senator Fuschillo has already called on the PSC to reject Aqua-New York Water’s proposed rate increase that would raise residents’ average monthly water bills by 12%.
