State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) is reminding Aqua-New York Water customers that there’s still time to voice concerns about Aqua’s rate increase proposal to the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC). The PSC’s public comment period closes on October 9th.
Aqua-New York Water has submitted a request to the PSC seeking approval to raise their rates. Documents submitted to the PSC by Aqua-New York Water estimate that the increase would raise residents’ average monthly bills by 12%. The PSC must give its approval before the rate increase can take effect.
Senator Fuschillo said, “Residents who don’t want higher Aqua bills need to tell the PSC how this rate increase will affect their families. Aqua customers who oppose this rate increase and have not already contacted the PSC should make their voices heard before October 9th.” Senator Fuschillo has already called on the PSC to reject Aqua’s proposed rate increase and said so publicly at two PSC public hearings which he requested.
Aqua-New York Water customers who have not already shared their concerns about the proposed rate increase with the PSC can do so by:
* Emailing the PSC at secretary@dps.state.ny.us
* Leaving a message on the PSC’s toll free opinion line at 1-800-335-2120
*Writing to:
Jaclyn Brilling, Secretary
New York State Public Service Commission
Three Empire State Plaza, 19th Floor
Albany, New York 12223
Residents should reference the case number when contacting the PSC (case #09-W-0237). All public comments must be received by the PSC no later than October 9th.
