This month, through the beginning of September, Senator Craig M. Johnson (D-Nassau), will be hosting a “Back to School” school supply drive, in cooperation with Gateway Youth Outreach, an after-school homework assistance program for at-risk youth. The purpose of the supply drive is to get those less fortunate ready for school by providing them with new, much-needed school supplies.
Senator Johnson is asking residents, community groups, businesses, and non-profits to participate by donating any type of supplies: pens, pencils, backpacks, lunchboxes, glue, scissors, binders, loose-leaf, folders, protractors, notebooks, rulers, markers, highlighters, crayons and any other school-type supplies.
Supplies can be dropped off, or mailed, to Senator Johnson's district office, 151 Herricks Road, Suite 202, Garden City Park, NY 11040 during regular business hours Mon-Fri, from 9am-5pm. We can also arrange to have the supplies picked up at your convenience. To schedule a pick-up time, please contact our office at 516-746-5923.
Any donation big or small would be appreciated. I would especially like to thank the Mineola Mustang Run Committee, the Ronald McDonald House and the Port Washington Federal Credit Union for their generous donations.
