$300,000 State Grant Will Assist in the Building of an Advanced Fire Training Facility

(Depew, NY) Senator  Dale M. Volker (R-C-I, Depew) today announced a $300,000 state grant to establish a state-of the-art fire training facility in Wyoming County.  The funds were part of the adopted 2009-2010 New York State Budget and will be administered by the New York Empire State Development Corporation.

“Continually practicing and improving the training of our volunteer and professional firefighters is important to the whole region,” said Senator Dale M. Volker.  “This state-of-the-art fire training facility will provide real life fire conditions that will improve techniques so that survival outcomes for both victims of fire and fire personnel are vastly improved.”

A.D. Berwanger, Chairman of the Wyoming County Board of Supervisors said, “Improved fire training has a direct correlation to improved outcomes.  Extinguishing fires quickly before they spread saves thousands of dollars in property damage, but most importantly it saves lives.  Senator Volker has been a trusted friend to Wyoming County, and we appreciate his support in securing these state resources to help build our new Wyoming County Fire Training Facility.”

The location of this new facility will be located at 3651 Wethersfield Road in Wethersfield.
