Sen. Aubertine Secures $190k for Town of Granby

Funding enables town to repair Honey Hill Road and Lakeshore Road Bridges

GRANBY (October 10, 2009)—State Sen. Darrel J. Aubertine joined Granby Town Supervisor Ed Williamson today at the town municipal building to announce that the town has been awarded $190,000 to repair two town bridges.

“There’s no question that these bridges have been in need of repairs, and that work should be done as quickly as possible,” Sen. Aubertine said. “With town taxpayers unable to afford the cost of these repairs, I worked with Supervisor Williamson to find another source. The town demonstrated the need and I’m very pleased to have worked together to make a strong proposal and secure this funding.”

The bridges on Honey Hill Road and Lakeshore Road have deteriorated and moved to the top of the town’s priorities for grant funding, in order to avoid passing the cost of repairs to the local property taxpayers. Work has already started on the Honey Hill Road Bridge, which is expected to cost between $95,000 and $105,000.

“As Supervisor of the Town of Granby I would like to thank Senator Aubertine for securing our bridge repair grant for $190,000.00,” said Town Supervisor Edward Williamson. “Without the Senator’s help and efforts the cost of the bridge repairs would have been a burden to the Town of Granby Residents. It’s gratifying to know that the Senator is there to help.”
