OSWEGO (October 10, 2009)—State Sen. Darrel J. Aubertine hosted the Oswego County Senior Health and Information Fair from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Swetman Gymnasium in the SUNY Oswego Campus Center. The event was sponsored by the Rural Health Network, SUNY Oswego RSVP, the Oswego County Office for the Aging and the Oswego Palladium Times.
“It’s important that seniors have the opportunity to see what services are available in their community and what businesses and organizations are catering to their needs,” said Sen. Aubertine, who hosted a similar event in Watertown last month. “This is a free and fun event, and it was great to see so many seniors come out and so many vendors take the time to be there for our seniors"
Several hundred seniors stopped by and more than 50 vendors set up booths at the event, including the New York State Elderly Pharmaceutical Insurance Coverage, or EPIC, program, state and county senior organizations, local health care providers, senior housing agencies, and local businesses. Complimentary transportation was provided through Oswego County Opportunities with bus service to senior centers in Redfield, Sandy Creek, Pulaski, Mexico, Central Square, Fulton and Oswego.
