Senate Passes Several Bills Sponsored by Senator Valesky

ALBANY, N.Y.—The New York State Senate today passed several pieces of legislation sponsored by Senator David J. Valesky (D-Oneida). Action was taken on hundreds of bills that benefit local municipalities and strengthen programs that will lead to the revitalization of communities across the state.

"The Senate has passed significant legislation that will advance economic development priorities, create jobs and assist in community growth. This legislation will aid Central New York especially by creating jobs, rebuilding our urban cores and stimulating our regional economies," Senator Valesky, Vice President Pro-Tempore of the State Senate, said.

The bills sponsored by Senator Valesky include:

• S1610A, which increases the penalties for the crime of leaving the scene of a boating accident and makes the penalties consistent with the similar crime concerning automobiles.

• S1980A, which protects historic districts and landmarks from demolition by neglect by allowing regulations prohibiting improper or lack of maintenance.

• S4880, which officially designate Onondaga Creek as an inland waterway, making it eligible for Environmental Protection Fund (EPF) waterfront revitalization grants.
