Senator Savino Inspires CSI students learning English as a Second Language

Senator Savino spoke to a class full of students from around the world at the College of Staten Island. This students, studying beginning level college English comprehension and speaking, had the opportunity to speak with the Senator about her background, policies, and how to get involved in their communities.
"Becoming active in every way possible, from voting to joining organizations that work for issues that you support, is the best way to ensure that your voice is heard," said Senator Savino.
Ms. Savino also spoke about her family's immigrant background and the skills necessary to be successful in this country.
"You can do anything you want to. You just have to ignore any negativity around you and set your mind to it. I certainly never thought I'd be a State Senator, and yet, here I am," added the Senator
