Sen. Schneiderman Hails Court Decision Affirming Lt. Governor Appointment

The Court of Appeals today upheld the Governor's authority to appoint Richard Ravitch as Lt. Governor. The majority's opinion is clear, unambiguous - and absolutely right.

Lt. Governor Ravitch is a phenomenal public servant who brings a wealth of experience to the team. As New York faces an unprecedented fiscal crisis, we need all hands on deck. I look forward to working with the Governor and Lt. Governor to move this state in the right direction and make our state government more functional.
