May 26, 2009
New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) and Community Prevention Alternatives for Families in Crisis will be partnering on Saturday May 30, 2009 to present a domestic violence awareness workshop.
The workshop will take place at the Poppenhusen Institute located at 114-04 14th Road in College Point from 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm.
The “Stop the Violence-See Something, Say Something” program focuses and increases awareness and prevention of domestic violence in our community. The workshop will include domestic violence assessments and formulation of a domestic violence safety plan.
“Ending domestic violence and protecting victims has been a top priority of mine in the State Senate,” Padavan said. “Through programs and workshops like this, the community will have the power and tools they need to help increase awareness of domestic violence and knowing the signs and what they can do to help to help victims.”
For more information on this workshop, residents should contact Senator Padavan’s District Office at 718-343-0255 or by email at padavan@senate.state.ny.us.
