Calling it a significant victory for all Queens Village residents, New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) hailed the new lease agreement that will keep the Food Dynasty on Hillside Avenue in Queens Village open for the next twenty years.
“When negotiations hit a stalemate and threatened Food Dynasty operations in Queens Village, I helped lead community and civic leaders and numerous concerned residents in a community protest against the potential closure of this popular and easily accessible supermarket,” Padavan said. “Our unified voice helped bring about a positive outcome by leading to a new 20 year lease for the supermarket to remain in operation serving the residents of Queens Village and the surrounding neighborhoods. It’s great to know that this site will be home to a supermarket for the next two decades as it has served generations before.”
On Saturday February 7th, Padavan, Assemblyman Mark Weprin (D-Little Neck), President of the Glen Oaks Village Co-op Bob Friedrich, Bell Park Manor Terrace President Bobby Sher lead area neighborhood residents in protesting the potential loss of the supermarket. Following the protest, renewed lease talks resume and eventual lead to the agreement reached yesterday.
