SENATOR MAZIARZ TAKES PART IN INAUGURAL FLIGHT
LEAVING THE NEW TERMINAL AT THE NIAGARA FALLS AIRPORT
Senator George Maziarz and his wife, Beverly, were passengers on board the very first flight ever to depart from the new terminal at the Niagara Falls International Airport this evening. The sold-out, non-stop Direct Air flight was scheduled to take off at 6:15 PM and land in Fort Myers/Punta Gorda, Florida, at 8:58 PM.
“In some ways, I’ve had my bag packed for this trip for more than ten years,” Senator Maziarz said, alluding to the long planning process for the new terminal. “I’m excited to be part of this event. It’s the start of a new era of air passenger service in Western New York.”
The new $31.5 million terminal offers a variety of improvements over the smaller, older terminal: two gates, new security measures, air conditioning, and better processing, ticketing, and baggage stations—not to mention such modern conveniences such as curbside check-in and free wireless internet access.
“Our goal in building the new terminal was to create an attractive gateway to the Niagara Region to enhance our tourism infrastructure and develop new business opportunities,” Senator Maziarz said. “This beautifully-designed, state-of-the-art facility is our gateway. Now we want to continue to build air service with our great partners at Direct Air and across the air travel industry.”
