ALBANY, 04/23/09 -- Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) was joined this week by Connor Adsit, an eleventh grade student at Cooperstown High School, as part of the League of Women Voters of New York State Education Foundation’s 9th annual Students Inside Albany conference.
“The unique program offers students an inside look at how state government runs,” said Seward. “I am pleased to take part, and show one of our state’s future leaders around the Capitol.”
Adsit “shadowed” Senator Seward for an afternoon, joining him for an interview with a magazine reporter and spending time on the floor of the New York State Senate during the day’s legislative session.
“This has been a wonderful experience, and a great learning tool,” commented Adsit.
Students Inside Albany is a program designed to increase high school students’ awareness of their responsibility in a representative government and provide tools necessary for meeting that responsibility. Adsit and other students from around New York took part in the four day conference.
